Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is in line to become chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, ThinkAdvisor notes. Waters was among 35 House and Senate Democrats whose letter to SEC chair Jay Clayton complained “that the SEC did not follow the Dodd-Frank mandate to establish a uniform fiduciary standard for both advisors and brokers,” Duane Thompson, senior policy analyst at Fi360, told the publication.
